About Us

The Johari Medical & Research Foundation (JMRF) is a registered charity working towards the cause of alleviation of patient suffering and handicap, better patient care, enhancing the knowledge and training of doctors and contribution to science by way of medical research.

JMRF was setup in January 2001 and was registered by the Charity Commissioner in July 2001.

Objectives

Patient Care

For the under-priviledged sections of the society by way of doing charitable work and extending medical facilities at charitable or nominal cost. The foundation is also concerned with elevation of standards of patient care by proper training and constant upgradation of knowledge of the doctors and subordinate staff.

Continuing Education

For proper care of patients, it is important to provide good training facilities by way of training programs and fellowships in the field of paediatric orthopaedics.

To this end, the JMRF has introduced “The Young Surgeons International Paediatric Spinal Fellowship” by which young surgeons train in pediatric spinal surgery with Dr. Ashok Johari for 6 months before proceeding abroad to train with Prof. James Roach at the Univerisity of Utah, Salt Lake City, USA for a further 2 months. In conjunction with the Spinal Science Advancement Foundation (SSAF) of USA, the JMRF covers all expenses for stay, travel and stipends besides investing in a medical library and journals.

With support from Allergan India Ltd. the JMRF-Botox Fellowship in Cerebral Palsy exposes young Orthopaedic Surgeons to the whole field of Cerebral Palsy management. JMRF sponsors the accommodation while Allergan sponsors the stipend of such surgeons.

With increasing financial inputs, future fellowships will cover short and long duration of training in Paediatric Orthopaedics which is an urgent need given the limited number of centers available for such training in India. Training programs would also be designed for para-medical staff e.g. nurses.

Fellowships like these lead to systematic and detailed documentation providing for better patient care and pave the way for the next objective which is medical research. Other training opportunities are provided by way of seminars and workshops like the Midas Rex course on modern dissection techniques of bone and other courses.

The JMRF Oration brings distinguished medical personalities to lecture on frontier areas.

Medical Research

JMRF encourages medical research emanating from patient data collated at the different set-ups where patients are treated. It will provide funds for meeting such expenses and for presentation of data at different national and international meetings.

In the future, JMRF will be involved in publishing booklets, monograms and books, videos and Cds on areas of education and research it is involved in.

JMRF is working for a cause which will benefit humanity through alleviation of suffering and handicap, better patient care, enhancing the knowledge and training of Orthopaedic Surgeons and other specialists, para-medical staff and contribute to science by way of medical research. These are worthy causes to seek your help.
